A drone pilot is a person who operates an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV). They are responsible for controlling the drone, making it take off, stay on course and land safely. With the advancement of drone technology, drones, especially multi-rotor “quadcopters”, are increasingly capable of completing missions autonomously. This means that they can remain immobile for a certain period of time, depending on battery life.
So, technically, the drone operator should be called a pilot.
